Schedule of Events

Charleston is an extremely pedestrian-friendly city. This trip includes a lot of walking, so please be prepared to walk several miles each day.

Thursday, October 13

10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Optional excursion: Golf at Kiawah Island Golf Resort (Note: first tee time is 11:50 a.m., shuttle leaves at 10:30 a.m.)

12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Optional excursion: Day trip to Magnolia Gardens featuring From Slavery to Freedom: The Magnolia Cabin Project Tour, an award-winning, 45-minute program on African-American history

6 p.m. Welcome reception with hors d’oeuvres at Emeline with local Purdue Alumni Club members

7:30 p.m. Private welcome dinner for President’s Council travelers at Emeline

Friday, October 14

8–9 a.m. Breakfast at the hotel

9:30 a.m. Private historical carriage tour through the city

10:30 a.m. Visit to the historic Charleston City Market with a signature Charleston treat

Free afternoon for shopping, museums, and sightseeing (suggestions forthcoming)

3:30 p.m. Private walking garden tour hosted by Historic Charleston

5 p.m. Cocktail reception at the home one of our local President’s Council members

6:30 p.m. Dinner at High Cotton

Saturday, October 15

8–9 a.m. Breakfast at the hotel

12 p.m. Lunch, wine tasting, personal wine-blending experience, art gallery tour, and Purdue football game watch (pending game time) at the Grand Bohemian

5:30 p.m. Private sunset schooner tour of the Charleston Harbor

Sunday, October 16

7:30–9 a.m. Farewell breakfast at the hotel

11 a.m. Checkout
