Thursday, May 19 // In Person and Online

The Purdue for Life Foundation is excited to present the 2022 Purdue Day of Unity, created to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Purdue alumni everywhere!

The inaugural Purdue Day of Unity will take place Thursday, May 19, and is a free event that offers both in-person and virtual interaction. Our mission is to engage in candid conversations regarding the various nuances of cultural identity, stereotypes, and bias. We aim to cultivate a community of unity, growth, and continued support. See below for our schedule of events.

  • 6–7 p.m. ET: Reception at the Dick and Sandy Dauch Alumni Center on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. Seating is limited. Guests are encouraged to stay for the screening of the virtual main event.
  • 7–8 p.m. ET: Virtual main event, including a keynote by Dr. John Gates, vice provost for diversity and inclusion at Purdue, followed by presentations by storytellers who represent the diversity of our alumni.

Each storyteller is an alumni volunteer who is willing to discuss their life and stimulate a conversation. Topics may include ethnicity, gender, sexuality, social status, religion/ideology, mental health, and abuse and addiction, among others.

Additional Day of Unity details can be found here as they are finalized. Also, please be on the lookout for additional diversity, inclusion, and belonging programming and online storytelling sessions throughout the year.
